This question might seem farfetched, but do you believe that there's going to come a time when no one would view the other based on the colour of the person's skin?

I think there was a recent article in Time magazine about this. On the cover was a composite picture of what the majority of people on Earth would look like if present trends in population growth and ethnic interbreeding continued. The picture looked vaguely like a Pacific Islander, like from the Phillipines or something.

It's funny, you know how in science fiction movies when people go to another planet, the aliens all look alike, at least, that is, they all have the same skin tone and racial-ethnic features -- maybe that's what happens to a species after a certain amount of time, they all start to look the same.

      In a word- no.

Not with the widening gap between the haves, and the have-nots...

It's NEVER gonna serve the needs of the haves to do away with the falsity of race..., unfortunately.
And with the way the world in general seems to mostly be headed... the haves (of ALL different kinds)are doing nothing but SOLIDIFYING their inescapable stranglehold on the current system of things.....

All right, here's a bold question for you: would you think that had it being us who had started the great trans-atlantic slave trade using the whites, do you think that we too would have been any fairer with our treatment towards them with the way they were towards us?

          Fuck no!
          Absolute power corrupts absolutely......

Whites/Euro's weren't evil BECAUSE they were white...., they were evil just because they could be, and had all the power at the time....

It's interesting to wonder, tho... if slavery perhaps might've ended sooner....

In any discussion about race or ethnicity one has to remember that in most societies for their to be oppression there has to be an "other" someone you can label different. Two examples one serious and trivial are firstly the Hutu and Tutsi of Rwanda. For most of us there is no discernable difference but it made a big difference in the time of the genocide...the other is in the Nordic version of "Top Model" one of the host said that there were instances of prejudice and discrimination between the girls from Sweden, Norway, and Finland....most of them were white, blonde but even for them there had to be an "other"...I am a big sports fan and when I am supporting my team I have to have some sort of disdain for the other team...even when I played football in high school the city I grew up in only had two high schools so we were arch rivals. I knew people from grade school that went to the other school and when it came time to play them I hated them with a passion...later on we could be friends but during that time I had to come up with reasons to loathe them....even if those reasons weren't true....

I also must say I love being black, colored, african american, afro american, and all of that. I love the fact that I come from a people so complex that entire socities that were wiped out have been reinvented by our creativity and genius...I wouldn't change it for the world....

Now that's a bold question. I do agree with Swee... that absolute power corrupts absolutely, but I believe we would've been kinder. I believe there would've been more chance for negotiation between us. Knowing what I know about the black people in my sphere I feel they are the kindest, gentlest and sweetest most loving people on the planet. It is unfortunate that the majority of us have been wounded and oppressed for a lot of years and when we're backed into a corner we will come out fighting. I hope one day that we will all be free! and I am not talkin' when we're dead and gone on to our final destination, but alive living on this earth free and moving and having our being the way God intended.
...and yes I believe slavery would've ended sooner.

But that's purely based on speculation about the salve trade ending quicker had it been the other way around, wouldn't you say?

Oh sure it's speculation. I am basing my opinion on the people in my sphere and at least one historical person that of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who took a very strong stance against violence of any sort. I'd love to believe that there were and still are more good people within our race than evil, so therefore slavery would not have lasted. I am not ashamed to admit that I don't know that much about the slave trade to be able bring supporting evidence for whether or not our people would've been kinder and that we would've ended slavery sooner. I do agree that people choose to be evil because they can, and that can come in any color. So who knows? What if it were to happen today? All of a sudden blacks became super powerful and had an opportunity to get back at the individuals whose ancestors were responsible for slavery, what do you guys think would go down?

There would be blood in the streets. Of that i have no doubt.

There are more good people in all races then evil, but that doesn't prevent evil from happening. Then add in that vengence factor and you would have some people going down. Heck I see enough anger in this tribe alone to make ME leary at times.

"and yes I believe slavery would've ended sooner. "

            Based on what?

Now i do believe that slavery would not have been so much as a color based thing as it became in this counry. but from a purely practical stand point, short of a massive civil uprising, such as the civil war, i do not believe that we as a black nation would have ended slavery any sooner or easier then white people in this nation ended it.

As for being kinder... history doesn't support black nations beoing any kinder to their serving classes then any other nations. so i doubt we would have been any kinder or more gentle.
