Imagine this; an airplane carrying Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton enroute to a 2008 Presidential Election event crashes somewhere in Indiana. Both men are killed in the crash. Black and White pundits on television and in print eulogize them in better terms than either has ever been described in memory. Black America says, "What a shame. A great loss. We grieve."
Now what? Who are their successors. Who will the corporate media mill select as the surrogates of white antipathy and racist projection of some unfocused mistrust of Black men?

Well, it seems to me that we really need to look at who we have out there. Who do you see out there? If we don't have anyone out there then we really need to get mobilized and start grooming a next generation of leadership.

I disagree.
Leadership time is passed, we need jobs. -

We need our banks, white man only listens to the sound of coins. All Jackson and Sharpton are talking heads that sell help sell consumer goods to frightened white America on the preses of being THE spokespeople for an angry black America. While they're outrage on nappy headed ho's hundreds of black Americans were inflected with HIV and they say little or nothing. The days of one single opinion carrying complete weight of the African experience in this country has long since been over.
We need control of our own money and our own educational system. That's were the leadership should come from, the churches and the politicians are pimping for a dollar and have sold us down the river for personal power and greed. -

I'm down with Ken. iDraw ... my blood ... maybe they've gotten to you. This is a new day. No more drinking from Massa's hand. Massa got Mexicans now. Our dollar don't count no more. Latinos are creating business hand over fist ... working cheaper and harder ... gaining skills left, right, and center.
What are we doing? Still talking about reparations ... and going on SSI. Draining. Man ... dey got some BAD plans for us. Betta keep up! A bitter, bitter harvest is coming ... especially now that they've seduced so many of us into loving The Darkness ... emulating the Seven Deadly Sins ... making deep love to Satan ... then wondering why there's so much "Hell" in our lives.
Time to get back to baseline. The values of Urban Amerika aren't ours. They are killing us. Time to "come ye apart" and learn a deeper meaning of just what God's Love is for us ... collectively ... but even more importantly ... individually. (Learn that first ...'cause you won't be able to manifest it without learning how to love others.)
Rural farms are cheap as hell right now. It's far better to have your kids hanging with the 4-H Club than with Spooky and Jo-Jo on the corner ... and if you live in urban Amerika ... you KNoW they are going to run into them.
Challenge yourself to DREAM. What are your FIRST DREAMS? (Around right work ... right relationship ... self love.) I attest that yes, we ARE spiritual beings having a human experience and that we cannot even conceptualize what we really want until we learn who we really are ... and how to love each other the way God wants us to.
Pride comes before a fall ... and we been mighty prideful. Now we see others eating our lunch. Don't get mad ... cause they got their own lessons to learn. All that "Will to power" is going to kick they're asses ... just as it kicked white America's. Now we trying to be just like white America and wondering why it ain't working? Duh!
God wants us to be our AUTHINTIC selves! Children of modern day Babylon ... there are great things in store for you if you come out of Darkness ...out of "pride" ... out of despair ... dependence ... drama. Be the loving men and women you are born to be. Take up your birthright ... and BUILD the lives you want to have. In these days, we are being forced to relearn many of the lessons we've forgotten. How to work hard with our own hands to forge our own self-determination is one of them. We hold a powerful place on the spiritual grid ... but until we get out of complaining and into gratitude, graciousness, and being Adult Gateways of God's Love ... we'll never actualize anything.

as far as i'm concern both gentleman are pretty much co-opted into the whole capitalist-patriarchal mess which is destroying the world in my view.i find it interesting that you picked 2men who are minister's,problem #1.i also feel very strongly that for anything to change one must change the attitude of one's self.wanting to be healed is very much apart of the healing process and african american's are not doing this, especially within the context of the family.this system that we live under in america, has no credibility as far as i'm concerned.the biggest problem with black people is themselves, make no mistake racisim, degradation, and exploitation, have tramatized black people, and religion especially christianity has not done us any good.i have no problem's with the teaching's of jesus,at all but his follower's scare the hell out of me.jesse jackson, and al sharpton, have had there day.they are both media whores anyway.if you must start anywhere to the solution of black america, just pick up a mirror.
