Just like what Alex Haley did with his geanology search, have you ever thought about doing yours?

my roots starts in this country in 1802 with a man that was sold upriver for a keg of iron nails, his name was Psalms. What tribe he was from we never heard any family stories about except that he might have been a freeman stolen from Boston
    • YOu ever found more info about him? Like knowing more about his family?

      • Sounds like the beginning of a rather interesting story.... Wonder how he found out the being sold upriver 4 can of nails part.......

Always wanted to do that new genetic typing thing, where they can locate generally- what area of Africa u 'came' from.......

old folks in my family rarely talked about slavery except to mention he was born free and kidnapped in his youth Slavery was not a polite subject to be discussed,it was a subject that had and sometimes is talked around
          • Must have given you mixed feelings when they first opened the story to you, I bet.

not really. We survived, invented a whole new culture, the truth being we're the only true American's here a compete new combination of African,European and natives American's We took that experience and defined ourself s in ways no other culture, tribe, race ever has. How many other races have gone through the experience we've had here and survived? NONE
