I'm going to post this thread and afterwards ... I hope to let it go. The post about the young man (not "boy") who got 10 years for oral sex in Georgia raised some anger and discussion. But looking at the recent rate of AIDS/HIV stats in African Americans, I'm kinda sad that we seem to STILL be identifying ourselves by the trauma of hypersexuality rather than working to define ourselves by our higher characteristics and the values that are so richly ... "black."
I've posted some statistics found online about the alarming increase in HIV/AIDS in the African American community. It seems we're literally "f**king" ourselves to death. Our marriage stats are grossly down, divorce is up, as well are the numbers of black children being placed in Foster Care. So ... we seem to be F**king more .... and loving less. My question is ... are we really as cool with that as it seems ... or do you think we're just so stubborn and addicted that we just don't want to change yet?

African Americans living in San Francisco have the highest* prevalence rate of HIV at 4.7% followed by whites at 3.7% Latinos 2.4% Native Americans at 2.0% followed by Asian Pacific Islanders at 3%.
For African American men who have sex with men HIV prevalence is estimated at 55% overall (SFDPH 2001a). Among anonymous testers, prevalence was 9.7% (SFDPHb). Another study found a 29% prevalence (Catina et al 2001). Collectively, this data suggests that African Americans have the highest prevalence of any MSM population.
The HIV/AIDS infection rate among Black men is 6 times that of white men and the rate among Black women is 16 times that of white women.

That is some seriously heavy information.
The fact that there are more African Americans with HIV then White Americans is disturbing. The fact that AIDS and related issues are the lead cause of death among blacks brings a tear to my soul. Sounds like we need to get some serious sexual education out there and not that you get in the back seat of a car, or at a friend's house while ditching school. Not only are we killing or selves in the streets but we are also killing ourselves in the sheets.
Time to wake up before we are just another relic in a museum. -

You are already awake. I am awake. Fred is awake. Many of us here are awake. It's time for LIFEBOAT RULES. When a ship sinks and the survivors abandon it and take to the Lifeboats, the rules of polite society and its extension into corollaries like Political Correctness and etiquette are abandoned. Lifeboat Rules are based upon; survival of the group, and nothing more. The selection for inclusion in the Lifeboat was "women and children first". But once the boat launches, the Paradigm become "whatever will get the largest number of survivors to port". Food and water are given to the strongest and if the boat is overloaded, the weakest are thrown overboard to feed the sharks. America has sunk. Our cities and smaller communities are Lifeboats (in metaphor) and we have to make some harsh decisions now and give food and water to the ones most likely to row into port.
Knuckleheads who refuse to deal with the realities of AIDS, and other killer STDs; DON'T DESERVE TO LIVE. Tough shit for them, let them die. Educate 100% of our people, get beyond the bullshit that "There is no such thing as AIDS" and "The HIV virus has never killed anyone" and finally "What they call AIDS is actually the manifestation of nutrition and environmental factors". Horseshit. Maybe there really is some "miracle" herb in Africa or South America that will cure the "real" Syndrome; but I doubt it. It is one more of those popular Ghetto Myths, based in the "Wonderful Motherland" Mythos. Dumb people get infected and die every day. And even dumber people spread this nonsense.
There is something that you can get from a transfusion, that produces the symptoms that we call AIDS. It killed a lot of juvenille white Hemopheliacs before the Antibody tests cleaned up the blood supply. There is something in the blood of infected individuals that has killed hundreds of healthcare workers who have been accidently stuck with syringes and other sharps that have come into contact with infected blood. Why do you think that there is a "Sharps" disposal container with a biohazard symbol on it in every examining room in America. The insurance companies won't insure any medical facility that lacks them. Money talks and bullshit fools who buy the Mythos die.
So don't shed a tear for those who won't be educated, and who prefer to believe the Myths. Let them die and we will have a smaller pool of people to compete for dwindling resources. It is harsh, but in the end, it will lead to a smarter and more adaptable survivable Black population. Just like jail, and just like slavery; the horrible crucible purifies the race. That is why the AA genepool lacks the wide range of congenital defects that the "Uberpopulation" contains; for 300 years Massa killed our defective babies, thus weeding out the defective genes.
So Brother Fred, and all my other awake Brothers and Sisters; don't include yourself in the cadre of people who can rightly say, "We are F**king ourselves to Death". They are we aint. -

It's not about sexual activity. It's about denial...and sexist attitudes. uggh. I could go on... but i wont but i think the worst thing any black person can do is focus in sex. Repression is one of the reasons we're in this statistic. -

For years we have used sex as a medication, to ease mental pain and anguish, to make us feel up, to boost our spirits. Now the medication is killing us and instead of alleviating the symptoms of our pains we need to focus on the cause and eliminate the cause.
The psychological issues which cause us to have low self-esteem and not value our own lives, let alone the lives of other are deeper than just our sexuality and sexual identities. When are we gonna start learning how to love ourselves enough to love others and value the life we've been given as opposed to regarding it as something disposable? -

We already know how. What it is that we have to be about now, is the reiteration of this message again and again. We have to become bound to it and not allow ourselves to become despondent because some of us cling to the malanthropy of our Post Traumatic Slave Disorders. We can choose a new "medicine" that isn't the snake oil of sex and drugs and bling. If every one of us says, "no; emphatically NO, this is not the way!!" whenever we see gangstaism, defeatism, self-hatred, ghettoism, and the mythologies that we willingly buy into; we will see all these things pass away. It was not the "dominant society" that created the Harlem Renaissance. It was our looking into our own souls and seeing the beauty of our spirits and the strenght of our true natures. We can recreate our infrastructure and supportive institutions. We can require our "heroes" and "stars" to reintegrate with us socially and economically. We can utilize our collective power and wealth. We can do so much more. And until we do we will continue to f**k ourselves to death. -

I'm sorry but I believe that these claims are spurious. The "Journal of Immunity" is like many other "alternative" publications, produced by non-Peer Reviewed anecdotal information. I wish that the underlying premisses were true, but if they were then the global pandemic would have been resolved years ago.
AIDS is real. The organizations that say it isn't are pursuing a cynical self serving posture based in their being compensated by groups that profit from their "research" and governments of countries that are seeking a "fig leaf" to cover themselves for their inaction in facing the requirements of developing national health programs based in real science; which are costly and would require redistribution of their national wealth. -

Al I wouldn't say Aids isn't real because it is real. It's that it's been around for a long time, as long as, pre new model of aids. It's what's being identified as Aids is where the whole misunderstanding comes in. If any one consider in the CDC group of what they say are the 'high risk' groups, come down with one of the illness associated with Aids, that person is assumed having Aids and may not get the proper treatment and care they need, that is curable. But instead are administered a high dose of 'cocktails' that, brings on the so-call Aids defining illness.
The probability of a person's own immunity turning on them, is of course very probable and 'could be' the probable cause of what we've come to accept as Aids. So a lot of new science is coming out and lets see (and participate) as it all unfolds. The biggest control is the control of human intimacy and sexuality, which, is at the forefront of all of this.
Control...that's, the bottom line, it's not about really saving more people to occupy the planet, and guess which ones are on the top of list to be downsizes.: either if through the 'cocktails' or again, something made in the labs. Not conspiricy, just a thought.

Brother Terry ... sorry ... but I just don't know enough about chemistry to say yeah or nay. All I know is that millions are dying and will continue to die of something that they are calling HIV/AIDS. Looking at the damage it's doing to our people (as well as to the world) I don't care what it is ... it's clear that as men, we have to LOOK DEEPLY at what we've been doing with that most sacred part of ourselves.
It black men don't hear a WAKE UP call on THIS?? They not only ain't trying to hear ... but nothing on this side of death will make them hear. You know my saying ... "If it ain't broke-- don't fix it?" Well ... every damn thing here is broke ... and we done a lot of the busting up.
As men, it's OUR responsibility ...got that word ... RESPONSIBILITY to keep the family safe.

Giving meaning to life
03/07Thank you for your insight Fred. One of the things that we desperately need is a system of ethics that will underly our lives, and throug which we seek and find meaning in our lives. We had this code of conduct and ethical behavior, in our pasts and it seems that we have let go of it in exchange for illusions such as material wealth, fame, and mindless distraction.
I moderate another tribe called the Elders of the 7 New Tribes. In this tribe we seek to find a path into the future that is based on the spiritual legacy of the Native peoples of the world. We conserve the Native traditions of many diverse groups. From the traditional beliefs of the North American native peoples, one of our members has formulated the following. It would be completely appropriate for us to live by as Black Men as well.
My Code of Ethics:
Rise with the sun to pray. Pray alone. Pray often. The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.
Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.
Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.
Treat the guests in your home with much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and treat them with respect and honor.
Do not take what is not yours whether from a person, a community, the wilderness or from a culture. It was not earned nor given. It is not yours.
Respect all things that are placed upon this earth - whether it be people or plant.
Honor other people's thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.
Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply when it returns to you.
All persons make mistakes. And all mistakes can be forgiven.
Bad thoughts cause illness of the mind, body and spirit. Practice optimism.
Nature is not FOR us, it is a PART of us. They are part of your worldly family.
Children are the seeds of our future. Plant love in their hearts and water them with wisdom and life's lessons. When they are grown, give them space to grow.
Avoid hurting the hearts of others. The poison of your pain will return to you.
Be truthful at all times. Honesty is the test of ones will within this universe.
Keep yourself balanced. Your Mental self, Spiritual self, Emotional self, and Physical self - all need to be strong, pure and healthy. Work out the body to strengthen the mind. Grow rich in spirit to cure emotional ails.
Make conscious decisions as to who you will be and how you will react. Be responsible for your own actions.
Respect the privacy and personal space of others. Do not touch the personal property of others - especially sacred and religious objects. This is forbidden.
Be true to yourself first. You cannot nurture and help others if you cannot nurture and help yourself first.
Respect others religious beliefs. Do not force your belief on others.
Share your good fortune with others. Participate in charity.
